August 28th 2004, 6 pm to 2 am 16th LANGE NACHT DER MUSEEN in Berlin

Traditionally in the summer Berlins "LANGE NACHT DER MUSEEN" is covering the city on its largest scale. On almost 400 square kilometres - between Glienicke Palace, the Museum at the Waterplant Friedrichshagen and the Museum of Local History Reinickendorf - more than 100 museums and cultural institutions are giving access to their exhibitions, collections and art objects throughout the night, enriched by a variety of events. On August 28, 2004 some of these events take up the current Berlin-Brandenburg cultural issue "Landscape, Parks and Gardens" like the Brücke Museum having readings from Brecht, Zweig, Whitman and Stefan George, or the Picture Gallery at Kulturforum Potsdamer Platz presenting a magic summer night and the German Museum of Technology is interesting children in "everything that blooms, crawls and flies".

Glienicke Palace and the brilliantly restored Köpenick Palace are first time participants, just as "Palast der Republik" is unlocking its doors that night.
The nine-part Installation "RefleCity" by French artist Armel Réau (supported by McKinsey & Company) has been installed along "Unter den Linden" all the way to "Schlossplatz" for this summer night event in Berlin specifically.
"Deutsche Post" as a partner of "LANGE NACHT DER MUSEEN" is presenting among other things an exhibition of photos by Berlin artist Stephan Maria Rother at the Museum of Communication, the show "service has many faces" is featuring the people working for the company.

Bus shuttles make sure everyone is reaching the participating museums and cultural institutions comfortably. 7 out of altogether 13 routes are starting from the square in front of the Berlin Town Hall, where the Mayor - Klaus Wowereit - supported by an Horn Ensemble is going to make the opening speech.

Detailed programme leaflets as well as the combination ticket (12 €, reduced 8 €) are available in all the participating museums, at box offices around town, at MD Berlin and online www.ticketonline.de.
